Identify and Implement Cultural Burn and TREX Training Areas in the Region

There is a need to map a potential mosaic of prescribed burns and the integration of cultural "good fire" burn boss training among large land holdings, which would create a safer landscape if a catastrophic fire should occur.

Project scope: This project would identify and map key areas that require fuel reduction given wind direction patterns and known areas of concern, and partnership building with both private and public entities who could participate.

Status: Conceptual

Partners: Native Coast Action Network, Santa Barbara Fire Safe Council (SBFSC), Santa Ynez Band of Chumash, UCSB Sedgewick Preserve and The Nature Conservancy’s Dangermond Preserve
