Lompoc Fire Station Upgrades & Resilience Center
Significant upgrades to the Lompoc City Fire Station were identified as a critical need in the initial RPP. The station's known structural issues create significant vulnerability concerns in the event of an earthquake. This is also the opportunity to add resilience center components, such as solar and battery backup that allows for community members to charge phone, accommodations for education and services before, during and after a disaster, and an area for CBOs and agencies to organize during a disaster. Potential Partners: City of Lompoc/Fire Dept.; County Sustainability Division, OEM, CEC, Lompoc CBOs.
Status: Seeking Funding
Cost: High
Permitting: Structural improvements may require building permits and must be coordinated through appropriate agencies.
Funding Sources: TBD
Additional Notes: This need should be reflected in the Citygate report that addresses structural needs in the County. Cities must be able functionally coordinate with County personnel in the event of a fire or earthquake.
